Join us face-to-face (or online) for our lunchtime talk spanning thirty years of signs and information design for airports. Heike Nehl and Sibylle Schlaich explore the unique identities and wayfinding systems at over a hundred airports, sharing past stories, current challenges and promising future trends for navigating airports around the world. Heike and Sibylle are authors of ‘Airport Wayfinding’, and co-founders of Moniteurs, a design studio in Berlin. They specialise in orientation, corporate design and digital products and their clients include the airports of Munich, Hanover, Zurich and Chicago.

About our speakers
Heike Nehl studied Visual Communication at the FH Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences where she completed a thesis on contemporary British graphic design. In the early 90s she worked for MetaDesign Berlin, and MetaWest in San Francisco. At Moniteurs she has become an expert in the field of information design. Heike has taught at on courses at Bauhaus University, Weimar (Typography and Information Design) and FH Bielefeld University of Applied Sciences (Interaction Design). In 2013 she taught as a guest professor at the Chinese German Academy of the Arts (CDK), in Hangzhou. She is a regular conference speaker, and has co-authored “emotional digital— A Sourcebook of Contemporary Typographics”, “Look Book Informationsdesign” and “1:1 Orientation, Signage, Identity”.
Sibylle Schlaich studied Visual Communication at the HfG University of Design Schwäbisch Gmünd and at the Berlin University of the Arts. After working for MetaDesign (Berlin) in the early 90s, she went on to co-found Moniteurs communication design with Heike Nehl and another partner. Since 2000, Sibylle has taught Information Design and Typography at various universities including the Faculty of Architecture at Leibniz University, Hanover, and at Bauhaus University, Weimar. She too has been a guest professor at the CDK, Hangzhou. Sibylle has been a speaker at various international design conferences such as TYPO Berlin, and has also been a jury member on various awards selection panels. She has co-authored three books with Heike Nehl, as well as “Erneuerbare Energien nutzen”.
