Rescheduled from December 2021, we offer a unique opportunity to find out more about the life and design legacy of Abram Games through a visit to his archive in West Hampstead, London. The afternoon (2 pm) tour given by Naomi Games, daughter of the acclaimed 20th Century graphic designer.

The tour of the Archive follows on from our June ’21 seminar when Naomi Games gave an illustrated talk about her father Abram Games and specifically his emblem and commemorative stamp designs for the 1951 Festival of Britain. One of Britain’s foremost designers of the last century, Abram Games’ work – a fascinating record of social history – spanned six decades. His design legacy ranges from WW2 propaganda war posters to stamps, book jackets and magazine covers to emblems, inventions and products such as the iconic table model Cona coffee machine, produced in 1962. Abram Games’ clients included the BBC, British Airways, the Financial Times, Guinness, London Transport and Penguin Books.

Join us for this unique opportunity to explore the Abram Games Archive, hear more personal recollections about her father from Naomi Games, and find out more about his design process. You may even be offered a cup of coffee brewed in the Cona coffee machine he designed!

The visit to the Abram Games Archive is free. As space is limited, the tour is limited to 12 people. For this reason, places are offered on a first come first served basis, initially to SDS members. Not a member? Do still register your interest as we will be running a reserve list in the event of cancellations.
